Editorial Review for Rio San Antonio Cruises – by Scott Weier
Overview
If noted journalist Ernie Pyle hit the target when he called San Antonio the "Venice of America," then Yanaguana's motorized rafts represent a new breed of gondola. Equipped with 40 padded seats, a gas motor and a microphone-toting tour guide, San Antonio's canal-cruisers might not be as intimate or romantic as Italy's, but they're just as buoyant and much more efficient.
The Experience
A cruise departs every 15 minutes throughout the day and glides past such Riverwalk hot spots as the Arneson River Theater, La Villita and La Mansion. The pilots-tour guides provide cultural information that arms cruisers with insight into San Antonio's lively history. But visitors be warned: The popularity of these cruises results in long lines, especially during the sweltering spring and summer months.
