Reasonably priced individual cottages in a tropical, laid-back setting.. The Scene
This small resort dates from the 1950s and still maintains much of the feel of that era. The staff is friendly and the pace is slow. The property is lush with flowers and trees, and it is a haven for pelicans, herons, egrets, ibises and the like.

The Details
Six cottages and one efficiency make up the accommodations. Cottages all come with screened porches and kitchenettes stocked with dishware. As the property is located just off the main strip, it's a good idea to choose one a bit further in, since those right near the highway can be somewhat noisy. There is a private beach and a boat dock where the occasional manatee is sometimes spotted. Kayaks are available at no charge. A coral reef park and diving area is located a mile away. Guests must be at least age 17.
