Great Location, so-so hotel. While the hotel is adjacent to Mallory Square, on the water and close walking distance to Duvall street the conditions of the hotel itself are lacking. The $325. room assigned to us was on the 1st floor under a stairwell and although they were willing to give us another room on the second floor with a pool "view", the carpet was torn up, the walls had stains all over, the bathroom wasn't the cleanest and there were hairs on the floor. Oh and the view was obscured by trees in need of trimming. Add to that the unfavorable layout of the hotel and no vending machines, and we'll probably stay some place else the next time we are in town. Also the one restaurant we tried Bistro 245 was below average. After ordering the Conch Fritters and Lobster Quesadilla the latter of which we were told could not have the onions removed because they were pre-made we decided to cut our losses and eat dinner off site. The concierge was great and service was o.k.
Luxurious accommodations in the heart of Old Town..
The Scene
This hotel is situated on the Harborwalk next to a 36-slip marina and walking distance from the main strip on Duval Street. The mood is pure Caribbean, from the soundtrack playing in the lobby to the brightly colored upholstery in the guest rooms. At night street performers play outside, and guests can watch the sunset accompanied by music from the rooftop deck.
The Details
There are 178 rooms on four floors, and the decor becomes more muted as rooms move up in level. The suites are decorated in dark woods with soft yellow wall colors. The swimming pool is dramatically set off and entirely surrounded by towering palm trees. Guests can take a meal at the upscale Bistro 245 or dine poolside. Guided snorkeling, parasailing, sport fishing and diving tours are available, and the marina rents wave runners and boats. For quiet time on the beach, visitors can buy $10 one-day passes to Sunset Key, ten minutes away by boat. Boats run 24 hours.
