Beware Don't Stay Here.
I also stayed at this place and had problems with the inn keeper. I found her to be rude and lacking any customer service skills. The rooms were out dated and there were ants and bugs everywhere. The shower had mold. Don't stay here if you are a young couple or a young group of people.
I stayed here at the end of fantasy fest and I was also celebrating my 40th birthday. I rented two rooms. Since this place was sold out some of my friends ended up staying at a condo on a different key. I had everyone meet up at papa's hideaway for pre-cocktails before we hit the bars. We ended up having too much fum at the bars and I was worried about my friends drinking and driving so I invited them to spend the night. The next morning the inn keeper charged me $200. She basically told me that my friends should have drove or stayed somewhere else. Apparently we were a little too loud for one of the guests also staying there and they complained about it so I apologized to that guest and anyone else. The people staying above us told me they didn't hear a thing. I felt the inn keeper handled the situation in a totally unprofessional manner, she even accused us of 'trashing the place'. When I asked her how we trashed the place and to show me where we caused damage and sice she couldn't prove anything she back peddled and accused me of treating her place as a flop house. She made us feel completely uncomfortable the next day and told me I wasn't allowed to invite people into her establishment, evening during the day. I felt like we were walking on egg shells and staying at a boot camp.
After staying a second nite, completely following the innkeepers rules, we were asked to leave. Apparently we were too loud outside the gate while we were taking pictures and waiting for our cab to arrive. The inn keeper was so unprofessional that she couldn't even tell me herself and asked a her 'friend' of hers to tell me that they wanted us to leave since we were supposed to stay a third nite. We were glad to leave and found a much nicer, cheaper and friendlier place to stay.
beware- Poor customer service skills.
We just stayed at Papa's Hideaway on March 20th and 21st. I found this hotel using Trip Advisor. We paid $372.00 for a two nights stay. This guest house had a beautiful courtyard with a pool & Jacuzzi. The rooms were old, but clean.
The problem arouse on our return home at 3:00 am the first evening. The lock to our patio door would not work. We tried for a half hour and could not get the door unlocked. My husband was thinking of crawling over the locked fenced area but I told him know because he could break something. We thought we were going to have to sleep on the swing outside our room. (There is no 24 hr innkeeper on the property) Then I realized that I had the number in my cell. Andrea the owner arrived a half hour later. We were very thankful in how she handled this, but please keep in mind; we were sitting outside for about an hour & half getting eaten up by mosquitoes.
Upon check out, we asked for a some sort of discount given the inconvenience. We were advised that this was the owner?s only day off and she would have her call me. She also advised us that she would charge me the full price and what ever discount the owner decides on, she can credit our credit card. We decided to have the owner call us.
We received no phone call , so I called the owner and asked if she could give us at least a 10 to 15% discount off our stay. (This is a credit of $55.00 or at 10%- $37.00) I thought our request was very reasonable. She only offered a credit for a future stay of maybe $55.. I advised that was not acceptable as we do not know when we will ever be back. I advised a trip from Ohio to Key West, is very costly. She refused to credit my credit card. What would the average customer want when inconvenienced? I think a credit off that stay when the situation occurred??? WE ended our conversation with her NOT crediting us with anything. .
I have to question this person?s skill as an innkeeper.
